Architectural survey in historic city centre for planning application

Stride Treglown architects commissioned CADS to undertake a HD 3D laser architectural survey at Gentleman’s Walk in Norwich’s historic city centre.

The survey was required as part of a planning application for a change of use at Numbers 13 – 14 Gentleman’s Walk, Norwich, NR2 1NA.

The proposal was to convert the first three floors and add a new fourth floor development to create nine new dwellings (Class C3) with associated external alterations and minor ground floor alterations to the retained retail unit.

Using laser scanning technology to capture accurate detail for 3D architectural model

Our laser scanning and levels survey traversed the entire block around Gentleman’s Walk, London Street, Castle Street and Davey’s Place; an area of approx. 63,000 square foot / 5,850 sqm. Our surveyors also took rooftop scans and traditional traverses using Total Stations and GPS to establish accurate levels across the site and of the adjacent buildings.

From this information our surveyors prepared an accurate detailed 3D architectural model of the entire area potentially affected by the proposed development. The architects’ original model was then imported into the main file and federated into the new architectural model confirming its accuracy. It was then re-delivered to Stride Treglown ready for the detailed design process to commence.
