Book scanning
Book scanning is a growing requirement as increasing importance is attached to sharing information and making it more accessible to wider audiences. Our book scanner can create crisp sharp mono images of the pages, which can then be converted to a searchable format.
Here are examples of some of the types of books/publications we can scan/digitise:
- Process small format document pages A5 and smaller up to A3
- Scan in resolutions from 100 to 600 dpi and greyscale
- Capture colour and black & white original documents
- Carry out preparation and document repairs prior to scanning operations
- Undertake all forms of indexing
- Undertake off or on-site scanning contracts, (CRB checked personnel available)
- Provide secure collection/return of hard copy data
We can scan a wide range of bound publications, provided you own the copyright or have permission from the owner. Our book scanner creates scans without the need to unbind or otherwise dismantle the books, so it is the perfect solution for digitising precious and/or valuable books.
If your books are old with poor page condition, we can apply restoration procedures to the images so you get the clearest image available.
We can also arrange for rebinding books where bindings have deteriorated, ensuring that they look as close to the original look as possible.

Burial registers
Trade Journals
We have scanned burial registers for Manchester City Council, Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council, Bramcote Crematorium and Gamblingay District Council.
We have also indexed Manchester’s burial registers so that the documents could be searched for names, burial dates and parish entries. The burial registers were digitised as part of a drive to create an ancestry portal online. This allows the general public to purchase credits to search for their ancestors in order to build their family trees – in turn creating a revenue stream for the council! This digitisation project was funded by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and we are proud to have helped Manchester achieve their objectives.
